red mail Walker farmers - (Goldsborough - Yorkshire, West Riding)
I am interested in hearing from anyone who knows anything about the Walker family in Goldsborough. I have found several individual families and would like to understand how they all fit together. Key members of the family are Robert Walker b 1809, who married Alice Clemesha (or Clemishaw) and had a large family livng and farming at High House Farm. Amongst their surviving children were Henry (moved to Tickill farm Plompton) Sarah (married Samuel Gomersall), Mary, Frederick, who moved to Bradford) and Robert (Also know as Clemishaw and inherited High House Farm). Robert's father, I believe but have not proved, was also a Robert Walker, b 1773, also married to an Alice Walker (maiden name unknown) b 1790. I also believe he had at least two brothers, William b 1820 and John, a blacksmith, b 1817 and a cousin called William Walker b 1800. There is also a John Walker running the Bay Horse pub up to about 1820, married to Elizabeth with at least a son called Robert and a daughter called Elizabeth. George BINNS (b. 1852,son of Robert BINNS and Sarah Ann BROOKE) married Lavinia RUSHWORTH and had daughter Lily (along with 4 others). Lily BINNS married Holmes FEATHER (strangely enough her sister Eliza BINNS married Holmes's brother James FEATHER). Theses people were my gx3 Grandparents. Robert BINNS (father to George above) mother was Mary PINDER. Her father Joshua PINDER was married first to Sarah CROSLEYof Thornhill, then to Sarah PARKINSON BINNS. Sarah Parkinson had married first Samuel BINNS and had son George BINNS then 6 months after Samuel had died she re-married Joshua PINDER. Technically this means that the marriage between George BINNS and Mary PINDER was illegal in the eyes of the church but some vicars/curates did turn a blind eye. Joshua PINDER and then Sarah (after Joshua's death) took over the running of the Pack Horse pub (which Samuel BINNS Sarah's first husband had previously run, inheriting this and a haulage company from his father).
