Family name of Clean /Cleen/Maclean
Looking for anyone who can help with the following, please. John Cleen, son of John, bapt. 8/6/1739 St. Michael le Belfry. John Clean married Ann Mason 2/10/1732 St. Michael le Belfry Thomas Cleen married Jane Sowerby 2/10/1740 St. Crux John Cleen married Mary Sanderson 13/11/1744 St. Crux The name spelling varies and becomes Maclean in the 1860's. I am hoping to connect one of these families to Thomas Cleen, who was a shoemaker in the village of Ness, N/Yorks in the 1760's and had a son William who was christened at Hovingham in Jan. 1770. Thereafter several generations lived in and around Norton and Rillington A bit of a long shot, but if there is anyone out there who can help, I would be very grateful, thanks. Brian.

Both my Grandfather Thomas and my father, also Thomas, are now deceased but it has always been a regret that my father never got to meet his half brother. Dating C19 photo, York
I have a family photograph, printed in the 'post-card' style with central divide on back, and Correspondence/Address headings. It was taken at The Electric Light Studio, Davygate, York. I am trying to date it, knowing the subject was born 1875 and she is a young woman around 20 years old. The 1901 directory gives a 'Cuthbert Bros., photographer' at no. 20 Davygate. I wondered if this was the same place with a modern name. Can anyone say when the E.L.Studio ceased to function? This would help with the dating of the photograph. Thanks.

Hello, I'm searching for the Morse/Morris family (it could be listed as either). The head of the family was William, who died in roughly 1881. He was buried in the town which he lived. The children's name that we know for certain are: Sarah Ann (b. abt 1863), Walter, Kitty, and Charles, possibly also Ann and Elizabeth. Sarah married an orphan from Spain named Carlos Tomas in 1885. They had a son, also named Carlos Tomas. They moved to Buenos Aires and that is where Carlos Sr. died of Yellow Fever around 1888. Can anyone help locate this family? I'm publishing her memoire and would love to have more information, even possibly pictures of gravesites of her parents. What I'd most love to find is the families of William and his wife.

Also looking for descendants of Lilian, William or Doris. My partner is descended from Mizpah.
red mail Thorp(e)
Looking for Thomas Thorp (B1811), I have his wife & children living in Coppergate, but he is a 'waterman' and therefore presumable on the river on some census nights! Can anyone find his boat. His parents (Father William of same occupation on Thomas' Marriage Certificate) and siblings are presumably all the same (he gave his address on his marriage certificate (1840) as 'on the river') He was actually born at Stanley Ferry, presumably on a boat again and I cannot find his certificate! He married Charlotte Hill (1822-1872) from Hereford who's father William was an Exciseman. They were living in York at the time of the marriage. Any Info on the Thorp(e)s or Hills would be welcome. Thanks Isabel

My grandmothers name was Emma and she had 6 siblings. 3 lived to adulthood. The MCKEGGS lived in York all the way back to 1847 but i do not know where they originated from.
