Tummond Family of Womersley
I am looking for more information on Charles Tummond, born appx 1763. he married Ann Wilson 26/9/1793 at Doncaster St. George, and died December 1807, age 46, living at Middleton near Leeds. I believe he had at least 4 children, one being James 1794-1856, and the name Tummond has become a middle name in several subsequent generations of my wife's family. Can anyone help please with Charles's date of birth and anything else on his parents or siblings....maybe even his wife's details ??? Thank you
red mail Sarah and William Lee
My gg-grandparents were also Sarah and William Lee. I believe that Sarah's maiden name was Stanley and she was born in 1839. William was born in Loversall in 1840 and they married in 1862. They lived in Loversall and my g-grandfather was Charles born 1864. I would also appreciate any info about Womersley in this period.
red mail Travel to Womersley
Greetings from Nebraska, USA. I plan on visiting Womersley in May 2012 and I would like some advice in locating where my great-great grandparents, the Joseph and Hannah (Blackburn) Thompson place was located where they raised their family and possibly had their business. Joseph was a Master Wheelwright and in several censuses there are listings for the young men who were his apprentices. The family resided here from 1820 to the late 1870's when Hannah died. Any research advice will be most welcomed. Thank you, Betty
red mail Mary Thompson Family
Earlier posting indicated search for Mary Thompson, dau of Joseph and Hannah (Blackburn) Thompson of Womersley. Information since located reveals that Mary Thompson(1821-1892) married Charles Willows (1823-1891) in 1855 at Lincolnshire. Charles was a dentist surgeion at Clifton, Bristol, Gloucester. In 1861 the family was living at Bedminster, Somerset, England. They were the parents of four children...Charles Edward Willows (1856-1915) married to Kate Louisa Brown (1860-1923), Joseph Thompson Willows (1858-1931) married to Evaline Louisa Garrett (1858-1953), Hannah Mary Willows (1861-1892), and Florence Willows (1865-??). Several of the descendants of Mary and Charles went on to become connected with the denistry profession. One grandson was Ernest Thompson Willows (Irene Rose Davies) of Cardiff, who also is remembered as pioneering in the field of aeronautics in the early 1900's. A pub, The Ernest Willows, in Cardiff is named after our Ernest. Any further information of this family would be appreciated. Thank you
ASKERN family
Thomas Askeron, son of John Askeron (and presumably Betty Jenkinson), was baptized at Womersley in 17441. He married Hannah Woodhouse at Womersley 11 Jan 1770 (both of that parish). She had been baptized there 4 Jun 1745, and was a daughter of Michael Woodhouse and Elizabeth Fretwell
Does anyone have any information on Thomas Hepworth 1818 - 1883 of Womersley/WHITLEY/ BALNE and wife Sarah Lister 1821 - 1902 OF CHAPELTOWN LEEDS. Thanks
red mail Ancestral Thompson family at Womersley for a hundred years
Searching for information about Joseph (1798+-, Smeaton) and Hannah (?) (1800+-, Burghwallis) whose eight known children....Mary (1821), Hannah (1825), Ruth (1827), John (1829), Joseph (1832), Job (1835) and Thomas (1837, who is my direct ancestor) were born at Womersley and baptized at St. Martin's parish. Ruth is probably buried at the St. Martin's cemetery as would be Hannah, the elder and Joseph, the elder. ______Have no marriage information for Joseph and Hannah or for Mary, their daughter.______ Joseph Thompson, the elder, was a wheelwright by trade and in many census records it indicated that he was a master wheelwright and had numerous apprentices over the years. He also had a farm of 40 acres in the area, so have to assume there would be records of that plus the transfer of the land to either survivors and a new owner. That information has been elusive for me. Their daughter, Mary, survived until later in the century and left unknown number of children to survive her according to a letter sent from her sister Hannah to my great-grandfather Thomas in the USA about 1900. Would like to find out who she married and information of her descendants._____ I believe in the earlier time period there might have been some connection with the Hawke Estate.____ Any information or direction tendered will be most welcome._____ Thank you, Nebraska Betty
