I am looking for information on John Summerscales and family. John Summerscales was born abt 1805 in Yorkshire and died 16 Jun 1857 in Illinois, USA. He married Martha Long (abt 1810-1876). They were married 1826 in Kilwick. I believe all their children were born in Silsden. All except Jane migrated to USA. Children as follows: Grace, Jane, Henry, Jess, John, Mary Ann, Martha, Permelia. Jane married Henry Driver and remained in Silsden.

Cowling, Silsden, Oldham
I am interested in any information regarding the family of Foster (b.Silsden, 1811) and Jane Cowling (née Mawson Greenwood; b. Malham, 1814). In 1841 the couple and their daughters (Margaret, Mary & Martha) lived in Silsden. They moved to Oldham, Lancashire in the mid 1840s. I believe Foster's parents James (b. Silsden, c1776) and Margaret (b. Silsden, c1777) and his siblings (John, James & Margaret) also moved to Oldham at the same time. While in Oldham, Foster and Jane had 3 more children (Hargreaves, Foster & Frances). Foster's daughter Mary married Joseph Thomas in Oldham Parish Church in 1857. The Cowlings were tenant farmers; although, Foster was also a cobbler.

Andrew Dawson born 17 Feb 1825 at Bradley - lived Silsden - emigrated to New Zealand 1848. 2 sisters Anne (1827) & Rose (1829)- have found no trace of either sisters since 1841 census - what happened to them?? Mother Anne (Whiteoak) died 1832 - Dad Joseph remarried x2 - died Silsden 1885.
