red mail HENRY PALMER STINSON of Brightside or Wicker, Sheffield.
Does HENRY PALMER STINSON or his wife HARRIET ANN HAYWOOD appear in your family tree? Henry was living in Brightside, Sheffield, Yorkshire in March 1869. He put this as his place of residence when he married Harriet Ann Haywood at Lichfield, Staffordshire. Harriets place of residence was put as St. Mary's Parish, Lichfield. Henry was aged 25, Harriet 19 years old. Their witnesses were Charles Haywood and Sarah Salt. Henry's father was William Stinson, occupation gas fitter, though the registrar had crossed out hosier. Harriet's father was Charles Haywood a basket maker. Trying to find the connection between my Stinson family and Henrys. When my Great Grandfather Joseph Stinson married Eliza Higgs in September 1869 in Sheffield they bothput Stanley Street, Sheffield as their place of residence. red mail Batchelor's Peas And Cup Of Soup
Some time ago I found the following on the web "Referring to 'Batchelors of Cup-a-Soup' fame, the company was started by a William B, a grocer who sold his homegrown food in his shop. He heard of the new idea of canning the veg. and tried it out- with amazing success. William Batchelor was born in Sheffield, South Yorks., to Zechariah Batchelor who in 1851 was a grocer aged 50 living in Camp Lane, Sheffield. Zechariah was born at 'Bradford, Wilts' - which I take to be Bradford-on Avon.", I'm unable to find that site again. --- The International Genealogical Index shows a christening of Zechariah Batchelor, 15 Feb 1801 at the Countess Of Huntingdons Chapel, Bearfield, Wiltshire, England - that is in Bradford-on-Avon. --- Does anyone know a little more of the history of the BATCHELOR family. I have a vague connection to the Bradford-on-Avon Batchelors but my query is really pure curiosity.
