My ancestors lived in Saxthorpe and neighbouring Corpusty for several hundred years. Any further info would be gratefully received! Jonas Eke (b1803 Corpusty, died before 1881 census) had an illegitimate son called Jonas by Dorothy Margetson (b1805 Corpusty) in 1826 in Corpusty. Jonas Eke senior then married Martha (b1808 Corpusty) and had a family: Newton b.1840, Thomas b1842, Hannah b1844 and Samuel b1849. All born Corpusty. The illegitimate Jonas appears in census records as living with his father and using the name Eke. In 1881, Samuel Eke andhis wife MaryAnn (b1855 hackney), new daughter Edith aged 5 months (born at Sevenoaks), sister Hannah and widowed mother, are living at Sevenoaks, Kent. I can find no trace of Samuel's siblings in the 1881 census. Roseanna Bullock was born in Saxthorpe in 1792. She had an illegitimate daughter called Sophia in 1817, then married William Eke at Corpusty in 1819. They had three children: John b1820, Maria b1824 and Hannah b1829 all in Corpusty. Roseanna was then widowed, and married Robert Platt...
