Info abot Joseph - he was born in Normanton about 1818 and married Jane and they had the following children: John (b1847), George (b1892), Arrabela (b1855), Mary Jane (b1857), Walter (b1860), Herbert (b1861) and Arthur (b1863) and Arthur married Sara Jane Oakley.

looking to complete; John Grogan, General Dealer born in County Roscommon, Ireland around 1811 arrived at the boarding house of Patrick and Ann Busler with his wife Mary Lines and their two children in Loughborough around six months before the census of 1851. (Their daughter aged 6 months is born in Loughborough). By 1861, earning a living as a hawker, the Grogans had moved to Leister Road Whitwick and added a further five children, all born in Whitwick since 1852, suggesting a move soon after the previous census. their descendants moved to hope town normanton.

Albert Deakin died in 1954. His wife Florence never remarried and died in 1978. I have been unable to find out what happened to Alberts siblings because they were all still at home and single at the 1911 census. In 1861 found boarding with son at spa st in leeds spelling name as hostick. Traced her mother as unmarried when Phyllis born in 1836.. Phyllis died in 1888 aged 56 years. widowed Thomas iveson went to live with newly wed daughter Clara Turner and son at 121 Castleford Road in 1891. In 1892 Thomas Iveson died aged 53 years in Normanton. Unable to prove their was a marriage. Any help greatly received. their daughter Sarah Ann Iveson was born on 16th July 1870 in Beehive yard, Wakefield Yorkshire first daughter and first child to Thomas Iveson of Cudworth (Forgeman) and Phyllis Austwick. Lived in normanton, west yorkshire with husband Grogan.

Hi, I'm looking for information about the above person. Annie Louise Walker was a spinster who died in 1970 aged 90 years in Normanton. She left a considerable estate of about 2 million pounds in todays money. My husbands grandmother now deceased was one of a 100 beneficiaries of this will. According to my mother-in-law her mum didn't know this lady although she was distantly related. Does anyone know anything about Annie, how did she get her money? John Ward was my ggg grandfather. He was born in Normanton, Yorkshire c.1780. He married Margaret Hall, daughter of John and Hannah Hall, in Normanton on 7.12.1800. They possibly moved to Castleford for the birth of their first two children before returning to Normanton. Their son William born c.1820, married Ann Laycock in Leeds in 1842. Any help to confirm or expand on this connection would be appreciated.

i am trying to trace the poole family of normanton. I have traced back to my nana and grandad,Samual Poole and Susan Marshall and my nanas parents mary anne Marshall and William Marshall. My grandfathers parents died when he was 5years old in 1925 leaving his sister Sophia Poole (later Pell) to bring them up. Siblings of my grandfather that i know of are Violet Poole, Peggy Poole (married my nanas brother harrold Marshall) William Poole Horace Poole and i believe Harold Poole and of course the sister that raised them all Sophia Pell (nee poole) I am also trying to trace the Carter family of Altofts Normanton and the Armstrong family from Stanley Wakefield. These are my birth mothers family who died in 1970 in snapethorpe hospital wakefield, Her father was either Jack or John Armstrong and mother Sarah Jayne Armstrong. I was adopted within my birth fathers family (Fredrick Poole) and brought up by his sister anne poole and her husband Brian Carter.

I am tracing family history and have come to a stop with BYRON and ANNIE ELIZABETH TURNER. Byron was a Lay Preacher in mablethorpe approx 1870 - 1890 then he moved his family to Normanton. They had 5 children Mary Elizabeth (moved to Batley around 1890)William (married,had 15 children and moved to a sheep station in Australia later in life) Nellie (moved to Grimsby) Emily and Alice.
