Edward later moved to London where he married Marion McDonel (McDonald) in 1844. They in turn had 4 living children: John b.1844 (my Great Grandfather), Sarah b.1846, Eliza abt.1850, Ellen b. 1853, and William b.1854. Looking for any information about ancestors and descendants of John Strother born Leeds 1781, died 1836 at Hull. John married Fredericke Catherine Amelia Redlich in 1810 according to the records I have. They had 12 children, my Great, Great Grandfather Henry born 1825 being one of them. Henry came to Australia with his brother William in 1848 and settled in South Australia. Several years ago I was given a copy of an extensive family tree of the Strothers and I am trying to sort the facts from presumption. A lot of work went into this tree. It appears to be correct in 2 separate parts but I'm not sure the 2 parts are directly connected. A family connection from NZ was recently in the UK but couldn't find a lot out via the usual sources. She is an experienced Geneologist but like me has come to a brick wall. Any help would be appreciated. Julie

James Aspin married Elizabeth Ann Dixon in Leeds, West Yorkshire in 1855. red mail Ethel Hulland nee Rix 1896-1945
I am looking for any information on my Great Grandmother Ethel Hulland, who was born Ethel Rix in Leeds on 21st February 1896. I know she was born in Burley/Kirkstall area at what was once 6 Thiers Place. Her parents were Lucy Rix (1875-1901) and Albert Rix (1870-1945). The first census she is shown in is the 1901 Census with her parents and sister Doris. Her mother Lucy died months later months later. Her father re-married on 26th December 1901 at St Stephen's Kirkstall to Annie Elizabeth Stead. In 1911 she worked in the textile industry in Leeds as a Tailor's Machinist. She married Charles Alfred Ernest Albert Hulland in Wortley on 29th September 1918. I know they had one son together called Herbert Derek Hulland who was born 23rd December 1918, She had two more children Lily Hulland born 12th June 1923 in Leeds and Arthur Hulland born 27th March 1925. Both Lily and Arthur were not Charles' children as far as i know and their birth certificates list no father. I need to know what happened as my grandfather Arthur never grew up with his brother and i know Lily died in infancy. I believe that Ethel was estranged from her hussband and her family. She died aged 49 on 30th December 1945. There are lots of gaps in her history that i have not yet managed to fill. For example, why did her marriage end?, why did she not take Herbert with her? why was she estranged from her father, step mother and siblings. If there is anyone out there who may be related to the Hulland, Rix or Stead lines and may be able to help me it would be much appreciated and would solve many mysteries for me.
