red mail SUGDEN, Maria and Robert
I have just started trying to look into my ancestors and have reached my great grandparents who I believe to be Maria and Robert Sugden, who ran a grocer's business in Keighley according to the 1891 Census. By 1901 Maria is shown as a widow, aged 56, running the business. I believe they had six children, George Greene, Sarah, William, John, Clara and my grandfather Harry. I think their parents were William and Elizabeth. I cannot track any info regarding Maria, particularly their marriage or her maiden name, or the parents William and Elizabeth. If anyone can help with any scraps of information I would be so grateful. Thank you, Pauline.
red mail Percy Stead b 1878 and Ada Stead b abt 1881
I am looking to establish the parentage of the above, both born in Keighley. I am having some success with Percy - it looks as if he is the illegitimate child of Emily Harriet Stead but I cannot pin down even the birth of Ada. However, I am assuming that she and Percy are siblings because both are recorded as living with their aunt, Fanny Broadbent, in the 1891 and 1901 censuses. Percy is still with her in 1911. Does anyone have any information? Thank you. David.

red mail Keighley Mitchells
I am looking for information about Keighley Mitchells. The family in question moved to Keighley from Manchester via Halifax by 1871, The father James was born 1829 in Huddersfield. The mother was Betsy and their children were Samuel, b1852, William b1854 (my greatgreat grandfather), Elizabeth b 1858, James b 1860 and Amelia b 1864. By 1881 it all gets a bit unclear. The first three siblings are easy enough. Samuel has married Martha Pickles, moved to Dewsbury and has four sons; Arthur, Thomas, Allen and Victor who all eventually marry and have children too. Samuel becomes a prestigious dentist. William moved to Halifax, then Leeds wher he was a dentist, married Sarah Ann Greenwood and they had three girls, though only two survived to adulthood. Elizabeth married Frederick Brook and had at least seven children. I have not traced descendant of these familes back to the current day. However in 1873 Betsy has died, + in 1881 James + James jnr, assuming I have the right records, are living in seperate boarding houses and I can find no trace of Amelia alive or dead. James jnr proves impossible to track after this as it is a common name in Keighley and elsewhere. Again, assuming I have the right record,James snr lived in boarding houses until his death in 1902. It is possible Amelia married William Henry Smith - a publican in Keighley - in 1890. But there was another Amelia Mitchell of the same age in Keighley in the '81 census (def not the right one) so this may well have been her. Does anyone out there have information about this family? Particularly in relation to James jnr, Amelia and if they ever married and had children. Also interested to find descendants of all four siblings apart from William. Thanks

red mail Mills family (1810 - 1860)
I am trying to find information on the Mills family who lived in Keigley between about 1810 and 1860. My gx3 g'father, John Mills, and his father, Thomas Mills, were both interred at "St John's, Keighley" in 1861. I assume this would be St John's, Ingrow? Have any of the local history societies published monumental inscriptions for that church? John Mills was baptised at the Independent or Congregational Church, Keighley in 1811. This seems to have had only a small congregation - does anyone have any information on this? Thomas was an iron founder. He seems to have married twice - his children with Mary were John, Elizabeth (1813) and Hannah (1815). Thomas married Maria Hardwick in 1820: their children were Hannah (1823), Eleanor (1825), Thomas (1827), Maria (1830) and Mary Ann (1835). Do these names tie in with anyone else's research?

Looking for birth record - CORCORAN
My great grandmother was Eliza Corcoran, b. 19/10/1882(reliable family source) in Leeds but lived and died in Keighley. As a point of interest she married John Philbin in 1907 at ST Ann's Church. I cannot find any supporting documentation of her birth. To add to this I have a suspicion that her parents Ellen (known name) and John(taken from 1891 census)were not married as I am unable to find a marriage source. 1901 census lists Ellen as a widow. If anyone can assist me in unravelling this I would be grateful.
