red mail Lamb Family/ Brown Yard, Hunslet
I am trying to trace my ancestor George LAMB. It is stated he was born in Hunslet in 1839 but I cannot find the correct person/family as he states on his marriage certificate in Manchester in 1862 that his father was named William and a farmer! He lived in Lancs from 1861 (census) at least, when he is stated as 22 and a (engine) striker. His 3rd child Peter was listed as being born at 14 BROWN YARD, HUNSLET in 1865, so he obviously still had family living there but I can find no relevant Lamb at that address or even that address!! Does anybody have any idea about this mysterious man or even BROWN YARD, HUNSLET? Many thanks

red mail Midgley
My great great grandmother was born Sarah Ann Midgley born around 1839 in Hunslet, West Riding. Her father was William , a shoe maker. She married Kelita Crossland in 1860. Family tradition tells that she had a sister called Ruth who spent much of her life in USA, possibly in Ilinois where she seems to have become fairly well-off, possibly working in the steel industry. This story is supported by some photographs and some strong oral memories by close members of the family, now deceased. Ruth did not marry - or only at the end of her life - and died in USA. However, there is little sign of her in establshed sources. Any information welcome.
