Am looking for any information regarding the Ashton family from Hightown.. Cleckheaton area .John who left Hightown in 1797 to open woollen mills in NOrhtumberland or any of his family.Father John mother Elizabeth Shead.
red mail History/Photographs of Hightown
My family arrived in Hightown in 1871. Places of abode around this time were Hirst Buildings; Co-op Row; Harvey or perhaps Henry Buildings. None of these are recorded on any maps that I have been able to trace. Does anyone know of any books that record the history of Hightown since the mid 1880's to the present day and/or where one might find photographs for the same period?

Looking for info on the Mitchell Family Samuel and Mary, they lived at the corner of windy Harbour Lane. mary and daughter Jane were Hat and Bonnet makers. Son John was a card setter, Sam made prickers for card trade. Othe r children included Sarah,Hannah who married Crispin Ramsden, Titus, Mary ann,Elizabeth, Jane, and david. Mary died in 1850, samuel 1836.

Would like information on the Redfearn families that lived in Hightown from 1850 onwards. My grandfather was Tom Redfearn, He had 2 daughters, Nelly & Ada who lived in Roberttown after they married, and 3 sons Tom, Harry & Ernest(possibly known as Dick)they all lived in Hightown after they married. All information will be greatfully recieved.
John Ashton
John Ashton, a Weaver and woollen manufacturer came originally from Hightown, Cleckheaton to Northumberland in 1796. He was Baptised 14th December 1779 at Hartshead son of John Ashton a Guncleaner and Elizabeth Shead. Happy to share information about him.
