Five of his children were baptised at Kirkby in Cleveland from 1734 to 1745. I believe Major's wife was called Mary as his daughter Sarah who died in Hawnby in 1782 has this burial register entry:- "Sarah of Hawnby, daughter of Major and Mary WILLIAMSON of Broughton, Labourer. red mail Ann, Elizabeth, Richard BUSSEY, Knayton about 1820-30 - (Knayton - Yorkshire, North Riding)
I am looking for the antecedents of Ann BUSSEY born about 1826 in Knayton. She had a sister Elizabeth (who may have been her twin) and possibly a sister Mary. Her father was Richard BUSSEY, about whom I know nothing but his name, and his wife Ann (no maiden name known), who may have been born about 1786 in Yorkshire. There was an Ann BUSSY living in Pannal who appears in the early censuses with a daughter Ann both of whom are about the right ages, but this is almost certainly not the right family as the younger Ann remained unmarried after "my" Ann had married. "My" Ann BUSSEY married Thomas MORTON on the 27th of November 1845 in Thornton le Street, and the couple farmed for many years at Green Dykes Farm in Bagby. Ann died in 1902 in Bagby. She had three children I know of: William George MORTON (1854 - ?), Annie Elizabeth MORTON (1856 - 1916, married Charles KIRBY) and Eleanor M. MORTON (1859 - ?) married Charles's brother Francis Peacock KIRBY. Any assistance in tracing the older generation of BUSSEYs, Richard and his wife Ann, would be very greatly appreciated. If anyone is interested, I have lots of information on the descendents of Annie Elizabeth and Eleanor.

red mail Massam Family of Melsonby - (Melsonby - Yorkshire, North Riding)
I have traced my Massam family at Melsonby back to Richard Massam who was baptised at Melsonby Parish Church on 26.07.1657. He married Mary (?). The tree then comes down to Richard Massam bap Melsonby PC 11.10.1685. Richard married Mary Mangles at St Andrew's PC, Aycliffe, County Durham on 25.05.1727. Next came George Massam bap Melsonby PC 06.10.1745. He married Dinah Todd again at Melsonby PC on 23.02.1773. George was followed by William Massam bap Melsonby PC 26.01.1780. He married Christiana Finley at Melsonby 12.05.1824. Barbara Massam follows baptised Melsonby 25.02.1828. Barbara married John Kirkby at St Mary's Church, Hornby (near Hackforth) on 12.05.1851. The Massam name seems to have died out but I would be pleased to hear from anyone who might be connected to this tree.

Fletcher/Atkinson - (Middleton - Yorkshire, North Riding)
Elizabeth Fletcher married John Atkinson 7/12/1829 Middleton by Pickering. Elizabeth I believe was born about 1799 Thornton le Dale , but I hope that someone can confirm John's back ground. It's possible that he was born in Middleton, but there were two J.A.'s born within a year or so, different famillies, so I'm not sure about the next generation back. If anyone can clarify John's parents I would be much obliged. Thank you. Brian
