Margaret (Maggie) was my grandmother she married Thomas Johnson around 1915 /1920 I am trying to trace her Manchester's. I have no idea when she was born, or where.there is a tradition that she might be from arkengarthdale,or nearby.any help very welcome thank you Linda.
SPENCE - Robert
Robert SPENCE was my 2nd Great Grandfather. He was baptised at Low Row on 24th August 1814. I believe he may have been born at Reeth, his Father was John SPENCE, Mother was Margaret (Peggey) I have searched for her surname for over 15 years, also for their marriage. CAN ANYONE HELP WITH THIS PLEASE? My 2nd G Grandfather,Robert Spence was firstly a gardener, then he became Innkeeper of the Shoulder of Mutton Inn at Reeth (It is now the Gift Shop)about 1856, later worked as a Lead Miner before returning to original occupation as a Gardener. He first married Elizabeth BLENKIRON 12 April 1837, they had 2 daughters Ann and Elizabeth. After the death of Elizabeth he married another Elizanbeth - Elizabeth OWEN on 12 May 1842.they had 8 children, Margaret 1843, Mary 1845, John 1847, Eleanor (Ellen) and Jane (twins)1851, Eliza 1853, Hannah (my Great Grandmother) 1856 and Isabella 1860. Any information on any of this family or their descendents would be appreciated.
