red mail Jack TAYLOR
Does anyone have any information about the above, who lived in a cottage in the parish from the 1870s to at least the 1930s and was a gardener on the de L'Isle and Dudley estate? I believe he was the son of Jonathan TAYLOR, a farm bailiff in the parish, and born c1875.
red mail Hebron / Hebbron
Interested in the HEBRON or HEBBRON family who migrated back to the parish from Hutton Rudby sometime in the 1860s and become tenants of several farms including West Wood Farm and High Farm between then and around 1920. William and Mary with sons George and Richard seem to have leased one farm while two other sons of the family, James and William, leased another. None of the sons seem to have married but I have been told that someone connected with the HEBRON family was a gamekeeper on Lord de L'Isle & Dudley's estate at Ingleby Manor in the 1930s. William HEBRON was the son of Samuel HEBRON or HEBBOURNE, a wheelright, who had migrated from Ingleby Greenhow to Hutton Rudby C1780. The HEBBOURNE or HEBBURNE family had been resident in Ingleby Greenhow since the early 17th century, if not earlier, but seems to have died out in the parish by the 1840s.
