red mail Raine Family
Iam searching for any addional information on my ggg grandfather, William Raine. He was born abt 1811 in Gargrave but was living in Lythe at the time of his marriage in 1840. He married Hannah Thompson from Hinderwell and went onto have 9 children, 6 surviving infancy. His eldest son, Richard born in 1841 is my gg grandfather, he became a mariner and moved up the coast to Seaham and then Hartlepool dying there in 1906. On all the census William states that he is from Gargrave but I can find no trace of his birth there, on his wedding certificate his father is Joseph Raine a weaver. William was a carpet weaver at the time of his marriage but working mainly in the alum mining industry until his death in 1882. Sue
