red mail Skoby
Francis Skoby lived in Hunmanby in the mid 1800's. He and his family are mentioned in the census of 1851. By 1881 they are in Cottingham. Skoby is an unusual and seemingly very local name. In the index of BMD from 1837 onwards they are the only family in England. He was born in North Burton ( Burton Fleming) in 1811. His wife was Sarah Ridesdale and although they had a number of children only the girls married and had chilren of their own. I assume the name has died out? does any one know any more about the Skoby family ( there are varient spellings, we say it with a long o) It seems likley that his father was also Francis.
