I'm looking for collateral descendants of my ancestor William Wiles (emigrated to US around 1800). William married Abigail Briglin (Brignal?). I have information on family members here in the US, but am hoping to find other branches in the UK. The only snip I have about William is that he was a "yeoman farmer" in the Holme area.

Edgar Houfe could be related to Alice Matilda Houfe m George Robert Hall, lived HOSM, her brother Arthur Thomas HOUFE m Eliza TWEDDaLL/eLL of Auckland, Durham. First record of Thomas family was marr. of a Henricus Thomas to Elizabeth Mell,26 Nov 1695.They had a family. The next record of a new Thomas family was the marr.of a Robert Thomas to Mary Seafe,24 April 1708.I presume they were related,their place of origin unknown.My line probably comes from Robert ,who had a son Henry b.3 Feb 1712,who in turn,I believe moved to Eastrington as a Blacksmith,but I have no concrete proof.Any info please on these Thomas familys.By the mid 1700´s they seem to have all but dissapeared from HUSM except for a Wilfred,junior & senior. There may be lincs to Yapham cum Meltonby & Thornton by Pocklington.

I am looking for information on the Gell Family who resided at Water End for many years. Ralph Gell, a labourer, was about 60 years old in 1841 and lived there with a nine year old Robert Gell. The head of the household was a shoemaker named Schofield. Robert, except for a time working for farmer James Sykes at Old Hall in Seaton Ross, lived at Water End. He married twice;first Hannah, then Anna. Anna was my great grandmother Mary Ann Gell's mother. I am particularly interested in Ralph Gell's roots, but any info on the family would be appreciated. GEORGE ROBERT HALL married ALICE MATILDA HOUFE 1903. They lived HOLME ON SPALDING MOOR. George was a farmer he and Alice had children Harry Percival Houfe 1901, George William (my Granddad who married Mabel Walker my Granny) Ethel, Madge, Hilda, Sylvia, Douglas, Charlie, Thomas, Nell/ Ellen, most of these lived their lives in and around HOSM, Market Weighton, York etc.. George Robert HALL had siblings Jack, Herbert, Tom, Henrietta, Charles, Polly/Mary Ann Theresa - Their parents were ROBERT HALL of Reepham, Norfolk and Ellen St Paul.
