red mail Beer House, Hull Road, Hessle
I am trying to find info about this address. It maybe a pub but 1881 census shows 10 people living here but they have nothing to do with the licensing trade.
red mail Arthur Frederick Evans, Edith Norfolk
Arthur was a fisherman born about 1874, he married Edith Norfolk (born Poplar. London 1878)in 1896 (his father is James Evans, draughtsman on the marriage certificate and is still alive). In 1911 they were living at 36 Witty Street, Hessle. Arthur never seemed to be at home when the census was taken. I need to find his date and place of birth. Edith named her first son Arthur Joseph Mazzini Evans (where does "Mazzini" come from ?) and in 1901 they were living at 5 Floral Grove, Holy Trinity, Hull. Does anyone have information on the trawlermen of Hull - are there crew lists anywhere ? I know a lot about the Norfolks.

I am interested in finding out about the Oxtoby families that were in Hessle in the late 1700s and early 1800s. My ancestor William Oxtoby was born in Hessle about 1799.
