I know my GGAunt Mary Turberville was in the Upton-on-Severn Workhouse from 1881 to 1893 and probably longer. I would be interested to see any entries about her in their archives if anybody has access to these. She was was also in the censuses as Turberfield. Thanks.

Frances was born in Upton upon Severn. Married there in 1799 to Thomas Barnes from Dymock. Died in Dymock. I cannot find a record of her birth. There are 5 couples in Upton who could be her parents. Does anyone have any information about any of the following? Wm & Elizabeth: Benjamin & Ann: John & Mary: James & Elizabeth: Wm & Sarah. This has been a brick wall! for me for several years. Habukkuk Cooke was baptized on 24 Aug 1740 at St James the Great, Colwall, and married Judith Clarke on 5 Dec 1769 at Castlemorton, Worcestershire. Their known children were Isabel, Elizabeth, Ann, Thomas Knight, Anna Hannah & Mary. Thomas Knight Cooke was baptized on 189 May 1777 at Longdon by Upton upon Severn, aand he appears to have died before 1837. His wife, Judith Clarke (d/o John Clarke 1730- & Elizabeth) was baptized on 10 Jun 1776 at Pendock Castle, and died on 25 Aug 1855 at Hanley Castle. Thomas K Cooke & Elizabeth Clarke were married on 23 May 1794 at the Parish Church at Pendock, and had the following children: Mary Anne m Charles King and had at least 11 children (some born in Colwall, at least 1 in Staffordshire), Judith m William Bond & Robert Allen (Judith & William died in Colwall), Thomas Knight (jnr) m Susannah Randall Sinnick/Sennick (And other variants) both died in Worcestershire and had at least 11 children, Hannah m Thomas Archer & had 2 known daughters, & William married Susan and had a son John Y Cooke.

I am looking for my Ancestor Enoch Payton born 1782 and who married Jane born 1871. He was a waterman and lived in Lapstone Alley Upton. He had 5 children Enoch b 1809,Joseph b 1811 Jane b. 1818, Mary Ann b 1820 and Stephen b 1825 married Eliza Clay 1850. Stephen was also a waterman and he is my grandfather. Charles Newby moved to Upton from Alburgh in Norfolk. He was a chimney sweep but somehow turned himself into a baker/confectioner. His eldest son William Chas was also a chimney sweep but he was born in Paddington. One daughter died but the remaining siblings all thrived, one of them being my grandfather Percy also a baker. The only surviving sister Doris went on to be a teacher. Any information gratefully received.

I'm trying to locate additional information on the Turner's from the Hanley Castle and Upton Upon Seven areas. I have many family members originating from these areas, and am currently trying to obtain further details on Charles Turner C.1808 Married to a Mary C.1810. They had at least two sons:- George B.1830, married to Susannah ? & Thomas B.1833 M. Susannah Hill b.1833. Any information people may be able to add to these details would be really appreciated.

My husband is related to the Pumfrey family who lived in Upton. He is descended from George Pumfrey who married Elizabeth Gilding in 1632 His line is Bartholomew 1652, Richard 1697, William 1735, Elizabeth 1769. I would be interested in hearing from anyone else who is descended from this family.

Looking for birth information for my g.grandmother, Annie Rosina Whitehouse b. 2-16-1862 at Upton-on-Severn. Or it could be listed as Rosina Annie. She had always gone by WhiteHURST, but her parents marriage certificate states his name as Thomas WhiteHOUSE, so don't know why the difference. Parents moved to Upton between 1860 and 62 from Willenhall, Staffordshire. After her fathers death in 1869 at Harborne, Kings Norton, the mother (Sarah Bunting Whitehouse) married Richard Derricott.

This is my husbands ancestor, he is listed in the 1861 census as a waterman. Stephen was christened in 1802 and married Elizabeth Smith in Upton on Severn in 1840. Elizabeth was born c 1812 also in Upton. They had nine children - Ann my husband's great grandmother was born in Upton in 1843, she married George Groves. The other children are Alfred, George, William, Matthew, Henry, Fanny, Albert and Eliza. If anyone else is researchign this family I would love to hear from you.
