The 1901 census has the family all living at 52 Topsfield Parade, Hornsey, North London - but no sign of William. If anyone has any info or knowledge of him I would be most grateful to hear from them.

Edward's father was John Peacock born 1844 and his mother was Ann Whitbey (or maybe Whitby born 1838). After Johns death Ann married Alfred Evans. Johns mother was Ann Peacock born 1821. It appears that John may have been illigitimate as no fathers name appears on the birth cert. Would love to hear from anyone who has any information.

red mail WOODBINE Family
WOODBINE, born Kings Norton also WOODHOUSE, WOODLINE, WOODBRIE, TURNER, POPPLE and POPPLES. 1851 census shows Thomas WOODBINE aged 8 born Kings Norton living with his mother Mary Ann WOODBINE aged 34 born Walsall and with siblings Edward age 5 & Henry age 3, both born Kings Norton. Mary Ann's marital status is not recorded. By 1861, Mary Ann seems to have married Jno (John?) POPPLE and they are living in Kings Norton Village. John and Mary Ann POPPLE have two more children John aged 7 (listed as POPPLES in 1881), William aged 5 and Elizabeth aged 1. Thomas and Edward WOODBINE are living with them and are both recorded as 'son in law' to John Popple (this should probably be stepson). There is no mention of Henry Woodbine in 1861 but there is a possible match for him in 1881, married to Emma and living in Great Bridge Street, West Bromwich. Thomas WOODBINE and Harriet TURNER had several children and in 1881 were living at 4 Ellwells Field West Bromwich. Other transcription errors in other places are WOODLINE and WOODBRIE. Do you have a connection or any additional information about this family please? Do you know of a marriage record for Thomas WOODBINE and Hariet TURNER (possibly circa 1860) their first known child is Elizabeth born about 1862 when Harriet would be about 18? Do you know anything about Mary Ann's first husband / partner - the father of Thomas, Edward and Henry?

William Norton b 1810 Kings Norton
Any info please on William Norton born 1810 in Kings Norton. In the 1861 Census he is listed in Ladywood B'ham married to Ann (born 1808 in B'ham) with his daughters Emma born 1847 and Sarah born 1844. William Norton also had a son Charles who was born about 1833 in Bham. I would appreciate any help available on tracing William Norton and his parents who I gather were living in Kings Norton around 1810. Curiously there is another Norton family listed in the 1881 census as living in the brokers shop at 24 Highgate Lane in Kings Norton. This family headed by Jas Norton a furniture dealer and maker (born 1843) had a son James Lansdowne Norton born 1869 who went on to found the famous Norton Motorbike Company in 1898 at the age of 29. Sadly James L Norton died in 1925 aged only 56. It would be interesting to see if the two Norton families were related further back. I am happy to share any information and sources if it helps anybody else. Like many I started with knowing only the name of my grandfather and that he died in WW1 he left for the front when my father was only one year old and was killed a few months short of the end in 1918.I tracked his father Charles and then his father William Norton back to the then small town of Kings Norton. Thankyou Lawrence
