JOHN HARRIS, FARMER OF HISOMLEY - (Hisomley - Wiltshire)
I believe that John HARRIS, born around 1781 in Short Street, an area of Dilton Marsh, Westbury, was my 2 x great grandfather. My problem is that I cannot find proof that he was the father of my great grandmother, Amelia Harris. She was born around 1819-20 but was already married by the 1841 census. My reason for believing John was her father comes from two facts: 1. On her marriage certificate (to Thomas Butler in 1838), her father is shown as "John Harris, Farmer". 2. In the 1851 census, my grandmother's sister, Ann HARRIS (born 1845), is shown in John's household as "Farmer's granddaughter". I have tried all the usual sources but without success. Does anyone have the Harris family in their tree please? Thank you.

red mail Cavalry School - Netheravon - (Netheravon - Wiltshire)
Can any one offer more information on the riding school - presumably. I am researching the Carter family who ran the village store and had connections with the school. My great grandfather was a harness maker and saddler and to my knowledge lost one son in WW1, who had been employed as a groom there, and then joined the Royal Field Artillery. Is there a possibility someone could also tell me what the local paper would have been at the time of WW1 for this area? Does the area have a local FHS at all?
