red mail Ballard – Wanborough
I have apparently traced my Great Great Grandmother, Elizabeth Ann Ballard (Stevens) to the village of Wanborough in the 1851 census, when she was Age 6. Rather surprisingly as she was born in Fingest, Bucks Dec 17th 1844, the daughter of Mary Stevens. In 1851 Elizabeth was resident with a James Ballard and his mother Ann Hewer Ballard. Ann Hewer is described as Elizabeth’s Grandmother by the 1861 census. Looking for confirmed proof of Elizabeth Ann’s father as her origins all point to her being illegitimate. Elizabeth goes on to marry her first cousin, once removed Walter James Stevens.
red mail Panton family in Wanborough
My 3 x Gt Grandfather James Panton is shown on 1851 census as being born in 1778 in Swindon, Wilts. I have not so far been able to trace his parents or siblings. A search of other Panton's in Wiltshire on 1841 census revealed William Panton born 1801 living in Warnborough, Wilts. Others in the same household were Ellen born 1791, Robert Panton born 1810 and John Panton born 1832. As James Panton named two of his sons William and Robert I wondered if they were connected. I cannot find any records on IGI index. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with Panton connections in this part of Wiltshire

red mail Richens or Williams
I am researching my family history in the Swindon area and mainly the Wanborough & Liddington area. I can trace the name Richens back to 1881 living in 72 & 73 Lower Town Street and 1871 living at 4 Berrycroft Row. Elizabeth Richens married David Williams. They had seven children one of them being my great grandfather William Williams. William worked on Plain Farm for a while and then was sadly killed during WWI, his name is on the Lych Gate at Liddington church along with his brother Herbert. Any information or help in piecing more of the puzzle together would be much appreciated.
