I am trying to learn something about my great grandmother, Louisa HOOD, who was born in Lacock about 1866. All I know is that the 1871 census showed her living in Warminster with her grandfather, Henry BURTON, and the 1891 census showed that she had moved to Brentford, Middlesex. It also seems she was adopted by family SKERTEN.

My Great (x3) Grandfather, Benjamin Hood (1824-1874) traced to Lacock, as son of John (1783-1853) + Martha Hood (1786-1852). Suspect John may have originated from Broughton Gifford but unable to prove. Benjamin moved away from area to marry Martha Hibbard (marriage date uncertain but by 1851) to Monmouth area and ultimately Aston, Birmingham. He appears to fall on hard times as he died in Aston Union Workhouse.

Eleanor Self(e) A Lewd and Disorderly Woman.
Eleanor Self(e) My information is that Eleanor had 2 Children out of wedlock, Ann Christened Dec 1815 and James in 1819, the vicar did not seem to approve of Eleanor, under occupation for James's Christening he wrote " A Lewd and Disorderly Woman" James is my direct ancestor but I have not been able to find any further information on Eleanor. any help appreciated
