McCaw Family Mysteries
Andrew McCaw b. 1856 in Inch, Wigtownshire, committed suicide at 70 Hanover St, Stranraer. His wife, Jane Gilmour, and 4 of their children (Jane, Agnes, Georgina and David) remained in Stranaer and carried on with the greengrocery business till 1911. The other son, Andrew b. abt 1886, a draper's apprentice in the 1901 census, disappeared from Stranraer before 1911. And after 1911, I can find no trace of any of the family: no marriages, no deaths. Andrew b. 1856 was my first cousin 3 times removed. I would much like to know why he committed suicide; and what happened to his wife and family. Will be happy to share the info I have about this family with anyone who can help solve the mysteries.

red mail Stewart
I'm looking for Martha Stewart, who was born around 1811 in Inch. She may have married someone named Baird, but that might be an error in a census. I know she married William McBride from Kilbride. Fannie Curtis
My 3g grandparents Hugh Atkins/Aitken/Aikens and Euphemia Flockhart had a daughter named Fannie Curtis Atkins, b. 1807 in Stranraer. I'd love to know who Fannie Curtis was, and why Hugh and Euphemia named their daughter after her. I have found one Frances Curtis in Stranraer: she was married there, on the 29th August 1808, to David Porter, Shipbuilder of Greenock; the couple had a son James, born in Greenock in 1810. Assuming she was in her 20's when she married, this Frances Curtis could have been Euphemia's friend, but would have been too young to befriend Euphemia's mother Amelia, who named her only daughter Frances. So I need help with this mystery! And of course I'd be happy to share my information about the descendents of Hugh and Euphemia.

I have a brick wall on this side of my family. I am looking for a John Mackie born 1806 who married an Anne also born 1806, they had Alexander, Anne born 1836, William born 1834. These dates may be a year out, they were taken from Census returns in England. All went to Liverpool from Stranraer between 1836 and 1841 as that is where I picked them up from. I believe they were non-conformist maybe Methodist??? They had John Mackie in 1840 in Liverpool so it narrows it down a bit. I would be so grateful if anyone could help.
