Hi Is there anyone out there who may have some history on the Sinnotts of Ballygerry. They are recorded in many of the documents of the 15th and 16th century as residents of Ballygerry owning property and having tennants farming the land. The spelling of the name has varied over the years but they all descended from one family of Synots that came with Strongbow and were granted extensive lands in Forth mainly at Ballybrennan where they built their castle and spread out from there.

My great grandfather, Stephen SINNOTT, was born in 1862 in Barrystown and my great grandmother, Margaret WALLACE born in 1859 in Coolseskin, were married in Bannow chapel in 1882. Stephen was a sailor and they moved to Liverpool to live and started a family. Both of their fathers were called 'John' and were labourers. I am trying to trace any more family history, i.e. Where exactly did they live, where is the remaining family buried and are there any surviving family in Wexford today? My grandmothers maiden name was Sealey. I have a relative in wales but unsure of the name. maybe related to my father who I think was originally from Naas. My father may have had a twin sister, his parents died when he was younger. MY father was in english air force and met my mother in dublin hospital when he had TB, my mothers mother was also a nurse.

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows the site of the old Sinnott castle at Ballytramon. The Synots, it does not matter how the surname is spelt because they are all descended from the one family, they came with Strongbow in the 12th century and were originally granted lands in the Forth. They spread out over the next decade and shared the ownership of the area known as Fernegenal or E Shelmaliere with the Roche family which becoam known as Rochesland and Sinnottsland. Here they built a family castle at Ballytramon and possibly Sinnottsmill is somwhere near where the castle was built. I was wondering if any local historian has some information about the location of the castle or some history on the Sinnotts as I am coming to Ireland next year and owuld like to visit the site.

My great great grandfather Patrick Doran was born in Ireland- unsure of where abouts though (married Ellen Hyland born in Toxteth Liverpool) came over to Liverpool by 1882 as his eldest child Walter James was born around 1882. Patrick DOran's parents were Edward and Bridget. The earliest Kelly that we have is James Kelly (born c.1817) who married somebody called Ellen and they had a child called William Henry. Not sure if any of the line were actually from Ireland but with the surname being Irish I thought I would check. We also have the surname Brady within our family there is a Catherine (born c.1865 Belfast,N.Ireland) although Brady was her married name, she married a Francis Brady (born c.1867) by 1887 as they had their first child in 1887

Hi, I'm looking for information on my grandfather's family in Wexford and have hit a bit of a brick wall. My grandfather, Thomas Joseph Cullen, was born in Duncormick in 1889 and emigrated to NY in 1909. This is what I know of his family: Father: John Cullen (dob unknown Mother: Johanna Murphy (dob unknown) They were married in 1884 in Rathangan Parish. As far as I know they remained in Ireland. They may have also had a daughter named Marg but I am not certain of this. Paternal Uncle: James Cullen (b 1869) Emigrated to NY in about 1885. Married Margaret Crowley (b. 1871) in Ireland in 1890. My grandfather lived with his Uncle James upon his arrival and until his marriage in 1929. Margaret's brother Daniel Crowley also emigrated to NY in about 1904. My Gt. grand father Thomas Cousins (shoemaker, son of Patrick /Elizabeth born about 1840) possibly Kilbraney, married Alice Quinn of Bryanstown (Clongeen) on March 17th 1863. I have found eight of the children of Thomas and Alice, They where said to have had at least three sets of twins. The children found are Richard (my GF) and James Cousins (Twins) born December 3rd 1863 at Bryanstown and Mary Cousins born December 21st 1866 at Bryanstown. John and Anne Cousins born 16 February 1869 at Newbawn Wexford (twins) Bridget 1871 and Michael and Patrick 1873 (twins) Newbawn. Richard Cousins (son of Patrick and Elizabeth). Born about 1844 married. Johanna Redmond and they had the following children. Richard 18 Oct, 1865, Maria 13 May 1865, James 6 Feb 1872, Patrick 1875, Lawrence 1882, Nicholas 21 Jan 81, John 19 June 1884. I have no information on the above childrenexcept my GF Thomas and gt Uncle Patrick. No information. As far as I am aware the Cousins family have lived in or near these areas since 1750, Kilbraney, Newbawn. Knockstown, Wexford town, Clongeen Adamstown, Ballyharron, Tikillin, Carrigbyrne, Ballykelly, Sutton, Ballyveroge, Clonroche, and Killegney.

My grandmother Ellen Kavanagh was from Killincooley. She lived from 1894 - 1934. Her parents were Dennis Kavanagh and Catherine Quinn (from Blackwater)who both died in 1936. They are buried at Killincooley Beg graveyard with her ancestors going back to Charles Kavanagh who died around 1806 in his seventies. They farmed at Killincooley and Tinnaberna. I am looking for any information on a James C Murphy,1824- 22 May 1917. We beleive that his wifes name was Anna, born on the Isle of Mann 1824,and Died in 1909. They had two sons, John C or James in the family Bible, and Edward J. Both boys were born in Chicago Illinois, USA. I don't know when they were married or emigrated, but it was before 1860. I was able to trace Margaret O'connor but not Aidan. They had 3 children - Laurence (Lawrence) who was my father, Martin and Patricia K/A Tish. Margaret O'Connor had two children by her first husband Thomas McCann. I visited the Catholic Church in Taghmon in 2014 but when I was allowed to look at the parish records I found that many records had been omitted or lost - the priest admitted that many years ago priests weren't always careful about recording these events. Would appreciate any help to identify Aidan O'Connor - I have no idea who he was or anything about his family. The O'Connor families in Wexford could be related but I have nothing to go on that might confirm relationship. Any help or pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks, Margaret

My great grandmother Sarah Ann WALSH was baptised at St. Mary's Church Tagoat in 1858. She moved to London before 1890 and eventually settled in Wales with her husband Isaac GRIFFITHS. I have quite a lot of information on Sarah's siblings and have made contact with one cousin in America but I am always looking for more information on my Irish ancestors.
