James Bond - 1800-? and Bridget Cosgrove 1800-1885)
James and Bridget were both born in County Wexford. 6 of their 12 children were born in Ireland before the family emigrated to Prince Edward County, Upper Canada in about 1831 or 1832. James Bond may be a descendant of the Bond family which arrived in Ireland around 1650 with Ephriam Bond of a Yorkshire family who were members of the Society of Adventures under Oliver Cromwell. The Society of Adventures loaned money to the English Parliament to assist in the conquest of Ireland. In return they were given land in Ireland confiscated from the Irish Catholics. The descendants of Ephriam Bond became Presbyterian ministers and one became a Baronet (Sir James Bond 1744-1820). The death record of James youngest daughter Margaret, has him born in Wexford. I see that Wexford was the site of the Sack of Wexford and the English massacre of 1500 civilians and 2000 Irish soldiers in 1649. I speculate that James marriage to the Catholic Bridget Cosgrove would not have been well received by the Bond family and the Cosgrove family would have remembered the confiscation of land and massacre. Life in Ireland would have been very difficult for James and Bridget and emigration would have been almost a necessity. Can anybody tell us more of this family?

I have come to that famous Brick Wall and my hopes are fading in finding out anything on the Moore's of Ireland. My g/g/g/grandfather was George Ogle Moore. He was MP for Dublin city from 1826-1832. He was born in Wexford Ireland in 1770 and died in Bath Sommerset in 1847. He married Elizabeth Armstrong in Amargh in 1800 and they had several children. Their eldest son John, came to Australia in 1852 with his family and servants, which leads me to believe the family must have been rather wealthy. Also with them was Mrs Moore's sister ( Miss Jones). Also looking for information on George's parents- John and Maryann Moore.(they were cousins) Maryann was the daughter of William and Frances (nee HODSON) Moore of Wexford. I have no information on John or how he fits into the family of Moore's, but would love to find out. Hoping someone can be of assistance to me.
