red mail Alice ROBERTS
Alice Roberts, believe born Ambleside c. 1806, appears on 1841 Census (possibly) as Alice Stokes living with John Stokes at West Bromwich. The pair appear again in the 1851 Census for W. Brom. but with five children - John, 22, Jane, 21 and William, 16, all born in Manchester, and Mary Ann and Alice born in West Brom. There is a record of marriage between Alice Roberts and John Stokes at W. Brom. 1n Oct. 1836. Can anyone help resolve the puzzle or throw some light on the family, please. Incidentally, both Alice Roberts and Alice Stokes are recorded as dying at W. Brom in the 1st quarter of 1887 but not under the same reference. Is Sherlock Holmes available, please?
