I'm looking for information about the Drohan family from Garrenbane Parish, near Dungarvan. A son, John, left before 1850 and went to America. He is my ggggreat grandfather. Have had a local researcher check the Abbeyside church records without luck. Would appreciate any help. May have had a sister Bridget and his wife was found to be living with a Hanora Drohan approx 25yrs older, so possibly mother or an aunt?

My husband's grandfather was born at Mount Rivers, adjacent to Affane House.

They all migrated to Australia by the late 1880's we think. Any thoughts or avenues of research would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to obtain details of John Keane (Johnny) born in 1883/84 in Dunhill parish, Co.Waterford. John relocated to Clonea Power at a young age to gain employment. He married Margaret O Brien from Pickett's Cross, Rath, Carrick on Suir on 11th March, 1894. They lived in the Mothel area at first and then moved to Ballyneale, Clonea where they reared 5 sons and 5 daughters. John died in May, 1951 aged 77. There is a connection with Murrays Dunhill and also Guirys. I would like to know his mother's name and whether he had any other family.

Son James Joseph 1863-1911 married Bridget Fenton in Manhattan NYC at church of Saint Peter (downtown) they had 8 children only 5 made it to adulthood. I am searching for information re my great, great grandfather Patrick Kenure b. 1815 in Kinsalebeg Waterford Ireland. He married Mary Crowe(Crough) born in Clashmore Waterford. They were married on 7.2.1837 in Clashmore. Their son Declan b. 1839 also in Clashmore went to live in Wales where he met and married my great grandmother Margaret Frances O'Keefe b,1843 in Youghal Co. Cork. They were married in St Davids in Swansea Glamorgan on 26.10.1861. Margaret's father was called John. These are all the facts I have, any information on Margaret's parents, Mary Crowe's family, and Patrick's father would be very welcome. I have no date of birth for Mary Crough. The menfolk were merchant seamen.

His parents, Jeremiah Deasy and Mary Foley were married in Portlaw, County Waterford in 1838, so I am thinking Daniel may have been born in that area. They immigrated to the United States sometime before 1848.

Title in Gaelic bears no connection with the English name, which is derived from the local Landlord's name, or part thereof: Villiers-Stuart, at that time Lords Grandison. The village was preplanned for one purpose, manufacturing linen. The plans were magnificent, the village a bit less so-nevertheless beautiful to this day. Local wags, probably indigenous,if not aboriginal Gaelic speaking, even recently displaced, christened it An Baile nua, the new town, which it isn't any longer-a bit long in the tooth, at 240 years of age.
