Edward Cooke senior was a Needlemaker and owner a workshop that employed several men and boys when it was still a traditionally cottage industry. Any further info would be gratfully received

A tiny hamlet and parish in north Warwickshire which consists mainly of a farm surrounded by, what I would assume in days gone by, were the farm workers cottages. Many of my DABBS ancestors are buried in the church and churchyard and, obviously, farmed here. My 4xG Grandfather, John Dabbs, was born here and eventually became the rector of Nether Whitacre, a nearby village. My G.G. Grandfather, William Wilson Dabbs, left the village to live and marry in Yorkshire and eventually died at Leyburn. (My name was originally Dabbs).

Thomas Cocking left a piece of land and funds to build a school for the sole purpose of educating the illiterate of the village. The only record I have come across so far is that she may be the illegitimate daughter of Sarah Hands (servant) and was baptised at Whichford 8th July 1827. Angelina later appears in Birmingham (1841) as the daughter of Thomas Hands and Ann (maiden name Cook?). A Thomas Hands had a sister Sarah Tappin Hands, could she be the mother? We are looking for relatives of Sgt. John James Parish of Winson Green who was killed on 5 September 1942 when the Halifax Bomber W1220 was shot down during a night raid on Bremen. My Uncle was piloting the plane. All 7 crew were killed and buried in Jelsum, Friesland. They flew out of Elsham Wolds . The people of Jelsum are trying to contact relatives and tell them about the 75th anniversary of the crash.
