red mail Powers family of Combrook and Compton Verney - (Combrook - Warwickshire)
Currently researching my Powers ancestors, first definitely recorded in Combrook at beginning of 17 cent. My direct ancestor is Job Powers, who married Katherine Dun in Snitterfield in 1700, but who were his parents,as this is the only mention of him!? Is he a son of Robert and Margaret Powers with children baptised at Combrook c.1680? It is fairly certain that Job was related to the Combrook Powers's, although he seems to have spent all of his adult life in Snitterfield, as his son, William (also my direct ancestor), returned to Combrook after his marriage to Ann Wills of Brailes in 1725. Powers's are recorded in Combrook and Compton Verney throughout the 18tyh century. Later generations moved to Ufton and Loxley in the early 1800'sand there was a second 'migration' to Snitterfield in the mid-19th cent. Other of 'my' Powers family show up in the Leamington area in the 1851 Census. It is almost certain that members of the Powers family were closely associated with the Willoughby de Brooke family of Compton Verney from 1620 - 1810 and worked on their landholdings both at Compton Verney and elsewhere in Warwickshire (incl. Snitterfield). Combrook and Compton Verney records are very sparse and may be accessible only via bi...

Molesworths In King's Coughton - (King's Coughton - Warwickshire)
Courton Court has been the home of the THROCKMORTONĂ•s ? leading Catholic family since the mid-15th century ? and still is. As a result it became a centre for the Catholic minority. In 1704, the miller, Nathaniel MOLESWORTH, died. I have no record ofhis origin. It may have been Cornwall or Ireland. Later John Molesworth, the miller and presumably his son, was fined £6 as a recusant. His son, Humphrey, inherited the mill. But by the next generation the family must have become Protestant because another son, John jnr., was the Parish Clerk. He and his descendants were mainly cordwainers. The family were still living in the village when my great-grandfather, William, died in1872. Other families with whom the MolesworthĂ•s inter-married include LEWIS, WEBB, MORRIS, SMITH, LADBURY, BARLEY, CORNWALL, CHAMBERS, WIGGETT, HARBRIDGE, HOLMES, LAYTON, WARING, ASENDER, GREAVES, ARROWSMITH and STANLEY. I would like to share information with anyone researching any of these families.
