red mail Alice Orton - George Carter
I am new to this site - it looks very promising. The family I am researching is a Alice Orton b. abt 1813 married George Carter b. abt 1809. Their marriage bann 1832 indicates both were from Shilton Parish. I have found Alice's parents Thomas Orton & Mary Sadler and her siblings. I am unable find a Carter family in Shilton, or to determine where George & Alice lived after 1832 - I believe these are my 4th great grandparents who immigrated to the US in 1851 with six children. B.

red mail Tew - Barrass 1796 Onwards
In addition to my other ancesters ffrom the Shilton/ Foleshill areas, I would also like to mention my G.G.Grandparents from the same area, and including the village of Bulkington nearby, his name was also John Tew, he was a Shoemaker, and he married my G.G.Grandmother, and her maiden name was Catherine Barrass, I believe they got married in Bulkington on the 25th October 1818, I am still trying to also locate the name of her Mother and Father, I would welcome any leads of information that would help me. since I wrote this message in january, I have found that John Tew 1796, was not actually born in Shilton, we think the family possibly moved to there in the 1820's out of their 6 children, there was only Hannah that was born in Shilton, we are currantly researching the possibility, that he may have come from the Clifton on Dunsmore area's or area's close to there.
