Victoria Nursery
I am looking for any information about the Victoria Nursery, which I think was alongside the Rugby Workhouse in the 1850s and 1860s. It was run by WH Treen FRHS who won many prizes for his blooms, and then by James Parker. I think my g grandfather Peter FIELD(S) was apprenticed there while living in the Workhouse in the 1860s. A noted English educator and historian he was famous as headmaster of Rugby School 1828-42. In 1819 he settled at Laleham, near Staines and occupied himself with preparing young men for the universities. He was appointed Professor of Modern History at Oxford in 1841.
