Wales, Cymru (Country)
There are 13 traditional Welsh counties. These were abolished 1974 and new counties created. These in turn were abolished in 1996 and now there is a very confusing mix of authorities. Some of the authorities have taken the same name as the old traditional counties but do not have the same boundaries. CuriousFox is based upon the old traditional counties.

Pte John Owen, 4th Regt of Foot. born c1810
Looking for information about Private John Owen from 4th Regt of Foot. I believe he was born around 1810. His death certificate shows his parents names to be John and Susannah (possibly with different spelling). Owen was one of 49 soldiers of 4th Regt of Foot who left England on the ship LARKINS transporting convicts to Tasmania (Van Diemen's Land). The LARKINS sailed from Downs on 18 June 1831. It would seem he was well educated because he left the military in 1837 and became a school teacher in Parramatta NSW Australia.
red mail Theaker Ancestors
I am looking for Shirleanne who has the same Theaker ancestors, Henry and Ruth Theaker who lived in Sheffield, S. Yorkshire, England. Henry was born in 1845 and Ruth was born in Wolverhampton in 1846.
red mail Roberts - Williams connection
I have a known Williams family descendancy from 1750, and no knowledge of the origins of our original Thomas Williams, born about 1724/5. YDNA (male DNA) tests (so far) show our most closest link is to the surname Roberts - so am thinking that there may have been an adoption or a deliberate name change from Roberts to Williams. Any Roberts out there with a missing Thomas? Or any other thoughts. Looking at anything that may have happened prior to say 1760.

Knew the bible from front to back. Was able to read music (played violin) and must have been literate to read music.” also a reference to his wife Elizabeth “Possibly a lady in waiting to the Queen of England - was fired for marrying a Whelsch commoner”. He had seven children born between 1871 - 1895 Allegedly his wife was Elizabeth Bottoms born 1853 to Thomas and Mary in Co. Durham, UK (they were my 3x Great Grandparents).
