red mail William John Gardiner
My Great Grandfather, apparently said that he came from Fintona, County Tyrone, Ireland. From his death certificate he would have been born about 1861/2 he would have come to Australia in about 1877, he married my Great Grandmother Agnes Ada CUNDY in Muswellbrook in 1888. I have been unable to find him arriving in Australia, or being born in Fintona. He says his parents are William John Gardiner, school teacher and Margaret Young. I have seen the tree that says he had a half brother George Coulter/Gardiner, this is news to our family and from the trees I have seen, Margaret went on to have 3 children with him for years after he died. So I am not sure I can accept this theory. Any other thoughts out there.

red mail Robert McMahon Family Origins in Ireland Tyrone?
My primary need is to find Robert McMahon's Irish roots. I know that, in Augusta Virginia, Robert had neighbors and relationships that may provide a clue to his origins in Ireland. I have reason to believe that he, and several of his Virginia neighbors, had been planters in the North of Ireland. Robert McMahon/McMachon came to the US in the early to mid-1700's. By 1742, Robert (b. abt. 1706, IR?) was in Augusta County, Virginia. An Augusta court record of 1747 shows his wife's name as Joan or Jean. In Augusta County, Virginia, Robert's nearest neighbors and closest aquaintances included Lockhard/Lockhart, Donaghy, Reaburn, Walker and Campbell. (His second wife was Widow Reaburn and one Hugh Donaghy married Robert's granddaughter.) In their book "The Scotch-Irish" Bill & Mary Durning show Protestant McMahon (Irish), Donaghy (Scotch) and Campbell (Scotch) families as planters in County Tyrone; Barony Dungannon; Parish, Aghaloo. Any information on these people would be most welcome I hope that having other family names, along with McMahon, may provide a clue to the famiy's origins and suggest a migration pattern. Thanks, Johanna

(1841-1914) was an artilleryman with the Royal Artillery, 3rd Brigade and while stationed at Artillery Hill, Halifax, Nova Scotia he wed Clara Carey of Halifax in 1869. John and Clara then moved to Terrenew, Dungannon where my grandfather Robert Coulston was born 29 October 1875. His birth certificate indicates he was born at Terrenew and that his parents were John Coulston a farmer and Clara Carey. I believe the family was Presbyterian. Can anyone suggest a starting place to find birth/marriage/death records? Also, where might John have enlisted in the Royal Artillery?

Mayberry /kilgore/baird/laughlin
Oliver Mayberry was a soldier of the 23rd Regiment of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers who was discharged in 1833 and given a free grant of land for his services in Fitzroy Township, Carleton County, Canada West (Ontario). He died in that location in 1836 when he must have been at least 50 yeas of age. We have no further information about this man. His son Thomas married Nancy Kilgore and his daughters, Mary and Margaret married John Laughlin and Samuel Baird respectively. All these marriages took place in Ireland, presumably Tyrone, as the oldest children were all born in Ireland. All these families came to Fitzroy. Any information on these people will be appreciated.
