William RODGERS b c 1813 marr. c 1837 Isabella GILLESPIE. They had a large family, and in 1854 emigrated to South Australia on "Sir James Gresham"., Wm became a farmer. He died in 1890 at Boolcunda, S.A. Isabella, who was a few years older than Wm, lived on until 4 Mar. 1905, when she died at Stockport, S.A. It is believed that Wm's parents were James and Nancy RODGERS. It would be wonderful to find his bapt and parentage documented, and record of any siblings. The marriage of his parents,would also be fantastic. Any information/suggestions for further research would be very much appreciated. The children of Wm & Isabella were: James 1838-1864 Alma Plains, SA.Rebecca & Samuel, twins, b 1840 William 1843-1927John 1847-1919 Mary Ann 1850-1872 Stockport SA.Joseph 1853-1920. KJI

James Hill was born in Tyrone 1807/8, father Joseph and had at least one sister Martha. Educated in Trinity College Dublin I believe he was master in Abbey Hall School OMAGH in 1835 and curate at the parish church OMAGH in 1839. By 1843 he was settled in England but returned to NEWRY in 1846 to marry Anne McCullough. Any help to find facts to confirm these suppositions e.g parish records/census would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to trace the Ancestors of Francis (Frank or Francy)b.1911, His father was Alphonse from Tattikeel, his mother was Isabella Black from Blacksessiagh. Frank had brothers, Anthony (Tant), Patrick, (Paddy, his wife was Grace McHugh, they lived in London. Grace has a sister Mary). There were about 7 other brothers, there was a sister Mary who died when very young. also twin boys. Most moved to England, some went to Canada. Frank came to England about 1938/9(ish),going to hirings, where farmers hired their live in workers. I believe he was born in a village in Tattikeel, nr. Omagh. They had a farm or a smallholding, which I believe was left to go to ruin. If anyone has any info. I should love to have it please. In particular any about the Black family ancestry and the Tracey ancestry,before Isabella and Alphonse Thank you, Margaret.
Thomas Forsyth (bc1785) married Elizabeth Carswell about 1813, their son Thomas Forsyth (bc1813) married Mary Moore (parents James Moore and Sarah McDonald) about 1834, had children in Ireland - Elizabeth (1835) Sarah (1837) Mary (1840) James (1843) and Anne (1844) and Thomas (1855) in Scotland (moved to Scotland c1848) - in 1851 Glasgow Thomas was a hand loom weaver. From Scottish Poor Law Papers of daughter Elizabeth she was born Omagh, Co. Tyrone so assume other children also born Omagh. Would appreciate any information on these families, regards Hilda

According to Abraham's marriage certificate in 1891( Middlesex London, where he was then living after emigrating on his own) his Father's name was William Little,a carpenter and Smith, who was by then deceased. Looking for any info on the McGlinchey family who owned a pub in 8 Abbey St.Omagh town c.1908. Michael McGlinchey owned the pub until he died on 22.06.1908 when it was left to his brother Patrick. There was a sister Sarah, a brother possibly called Andrew too. Mention of a Catherine Shanley who I think was another sibling living in Toronto, Canada. My grtgrandmother was Margaret McGlinchey but not sure what relation she was to the others. She married Edward Gill from Clonmany, Donegal and they must have inherited the pub because my gr.aunts Catherine and Sarah Gill were left it in their fathers' will.(Edward) I know nothing of the McGlinchey family so any help would be great.

Looking for information on John Hamilton, born Ireland, 1807 and Mary Hamilton nee Martin, born Ireland, 1894, who immigrated to Canada sometime between 1837 and 1834. They left Ireland with 4 children: Mathew, Catherine, John and Robert Reid. Robert Reid was supposedly born in Omagh, County Tyrone, Ireland on 6 December, 1835. Four more children were born in North Easthope Township, Perth County, Canada. They were Florentine, Mary, Alexander and Daniel.

Hi Looking for the Carter family starting abt 1815 with Richard Carter who was a soldier in the 37th foot regiment married to Mary Sherry daughter of Patrick Sherry a Labourer. Their son Richard a ship painter/flax dresser born abt 1841 married Mary Higgins daughter of Patrick Higgins and Bridget McGinty. Their children are Mary abt 1856, Annie abt 1858, Patrick abt 1864, Richard abt 1869 all born in Tyrone. Moved to Glasgow and another child Maggie born then the family move to Port Glasgow. Looking for a thread to tie pioneers from County Tyrone to Perth County Canada in 1847. Andrew? Buchanan and his wife Jane Long (surname in dispute) brought their family of 8 children to Canada in 1847. Children are named Robert B 1815, Charles (b 1817) James, William (b 1824), Andrew (b. September 20, 1824, Andrew (b. 1826) Samuel (b. 1830) John (b. 1831) and Jane (b. 1836) The family immigrated and were the first settlers of the Queen's Bush in Ontario - along with several members of the Thompson family. Links may be to Strabane, Binnawooda, Omagh - definitely in County Tyrone.

Looking for any information OR connections to this McCutcheon family from Tyrone County, N. Ireland - possibly the Omagh area.............. John McCutcheon married to Mary McFarland possibly before registration date (1845) - no registration found; 2 known sons - Samuel & William; I have 3 different dates for birth of William - 1869 -1873 but no registration found; do not know Samuel's age; Mary McFarland born about 1821 - died 1899 in Canada age 78; John McCutcheon died before 1894 in Tyrone; Samuel & William came to Canada about 1886/87; William returned to Ireland and brought his mother to Canada in 1894; Samuel headed to Western Canada or US and disappeared - do not know where he ended up but there maybe a California connection???? William married in Canada in December of 1894 to Mary Maguire (she was aslo from Omagh) - gave his religion as Methodist - possibly family was Methodist in N. Ireland as well?????? My STEWART ancestors farmed in the townland of Creevangar, parish of Drumragh near town of Omagh from about 1890 until modern times. Before Creevanagar they were in the townlands of Dergbrough and Landahussy in the parish of Upper Bodoney in the Glenelly Valley near the town of Plumbridge. The STARK and McNICKLE family married into the Stewarts there.

The NICHOL family (also spelt NICHOLL and NICKLE) were in the townland of Crosh, parish of Cappagh, near town of Omagh. A Methodist family, they were in Crosh from about 1840 until 1931 when my branch migrated to New Zealand. Don't seem to be in Crosh for the 1827 Tithe survey.
