red mail Mcnamee/Daly
Peter Mcnamee was a shoemaker in Aughnacloy around 1830s until his death. His son John also trained as a shoemaker and moved to Armagh. He married Mary Quin from Armagh in 1887. Peter was married to Catherine Daly. A daughter Rose Ann married James Regan, a tailor from Aughnacloy in 1866. He died in 1882. Several children died including two named Ellen. So Ellen must have been an important family name. Any information would be welcome on this Aughnacloy family. Thank you
red mail My ancestor
I am interested to find some information about my 4xgreat grandfather. I know very little about him, except that he was called William McKee, born in Aughnacloy around 1788. He was a weaver, and he joined the British Army (Connaught Rangers) and went to fight in the Peninsular War. During the time he was in Spain, he had a son by the name of John born 1812. I have been able to track John since 1841 on the English Census, living in Gloucester, and thus many other of my ancestors. I have no idea who John's mother was I know that William came out of the army after receiving a leg injury in Spain, and he was a Chelsea Pensioner, but I have no idea what happened to him after leaving. Did he go back to Aughnacloy? or did he decide to settle somewhere else? If anyone can give me some further information I will be very grateful Thanks in anticipation. Gill..

red mail John Roberts son of Robert and Sarah
I am doing research on John Roberts born 2 Dec. 1878 to Robert & Sarah Roberts (Farmers)Aughnacloy. I have a copy of his baptismal certificate from 1923 from the Diocese of Clogher Parish of Errigal Trough, which suggests he survived The Great War. He served with the 1st Bn The Connaught Rangers in the Boer War from 1899-1901 when he transferred to the South African Constabulary. His discharge certificate suggests he only served with them for less than a year. I have no information on John after this. I would be interested in knowing what happened to him after he came back from Africa. He may have emmigrated to Strathcona Alta, Canada.

red mail Isabelle or Elsie Gillespie
We are looking for the family of Isabelle or Elsie Gillespie. This is understood that she might have come from Market Lane or Yard. Aughnacloy. We didn't find out about the Gillespie family until after my father died in 1984. We understand that she must have come to NZ around the late 1800's or early 1900's. She had a Son called Mervyn in 1908. and possibly married a John Stewart. When he was around 5 years old she put him in a school for destitute parents. It is thought that she worked on a boat as a stewardess. We have at this stage come to a holt. If you have any information please let us know.

My great grandfather John McKean was born on 22 April 1849 in Plaister, near Aughnacloy, and baptised on 3 June 1849. His parents James McKean and Margaret Brush were married 25 May 1848. There appears to be another son, also called James, born 13 April 1851 and baptised 11 May 1851. There also appear to be 4 other men by the surname Brush, namely John, Joseph, Samuel and William, all with children born around 1850, and married predomenently into the McDowal family. Does anyone have any connections here? Any information greatfully received.
