red mail Patrick William O'Callaghan/Callaghan
When Patrick was discharged from the Army Medical Corps on 18 Feb 1886 his place of birth was given as Ardstraw, Drumquin, Co Tyrone. He joined in Omagh on 16 Feb 1874, allegedly aged 18 and a half. He was in fact born on 17 Mar 1857 so lied about his age when he joined up. Patrick married my great grandmother Sarah Agnes Pollard when he was stationed in Canterbury, Kent in 1880 and went on to have 10 children. On his marriage certificate he gives his father as William O'Callaghan/Callaghan. Does anyone out there have any O'Callaghan/Callaghan connections in the Ardstraw/Drumquin area.
