Hello, I'm looking for information on Catherine Ryan (my G Grandmother) born abt 1847 Thurles, Co. Tipperary, married Owen O'Brien 1872 Murrurundi NSW Australia and had 11 children. Catherine died 1929 West Tamworth NSW Australia, her death certificate gave 'time in Australia' as 76 years in NSW, making her about 6 years old when she came to Aust.... If any one has any information about her they would like to share, it would be much appreciated. thanks Lyn

Hi im looking for info on edward kavanagh who married Mary kenna who were living at 77 holy cross place, charleville and had the following children john kavanagh (address was stradavoher) who married Elizabeth (eliza) Maher (address was quarry street) they had 9 children, james, Nick, Eamonn, Maisie, Josie, Bridget, Sean, Margaret. Nicholas Moved to London and died in 1983, Maisie married a John Ryan also from charleville and they had 13 children, Elizabeth, Billy, Joey, Jimmy, Regina, Mary plus many more, Josie married unknown Raleigh, Bridget married Dick Mckeever, Sean married Nancy Buckley also from charleville they had nine children, Maggie May, Liam, Pat, Teresa (she married Dan Noonan again from charleville), Liz, Anne, Marie, Bridget, Eddie, Margaret married Dan Mcgill and moved to the USA, Eamon we think married an australian woman??, James (seamus) 17 jan 1917 married Mable rose Greenwood in Battersea London, Mable Rose was born in Portsmouth 1914. any info please contact me.

Looking for information/relatives of Thomas Fogarty, born Tipperary (possibly Thurles) in 1838. Moved to Melbourne mid to late 1850's with two brothers and set up grocery business with one. In 1880 established Fogarty/Doyle Liquor Merchants. Appointed Lord Mayor North Melbourne. Died Melbourne 1900

Does anyone have info regarding Samuel Churchill, b. Thurles, Co. Tipperary abt 1786? In Feb 1812, at age 26, he enlisted in the Royal Sappers and Miners. Went to Canada in 1813 -- served in War of 1812-14; discharged in Quebec City 1819. Obtained land grant in Lanark County, Upper Canada. May possibly have links to Churchill families in nearby Littleton or Two Mile Borris who also emigrated to Canada (Quebec). Samuel's wife is believed to be Jane Bowles, also of Co. Tipperary. Have lots of info about Samuel's descendants -- but no info on his parentage, or that of Jane Bowles.

Caroline Going was the daughter of the Rev John Going who was shot by an unknown assailant in the 1820's. John's brother was also murdered within a few years. Caroline married Richard Pennfather at Crannagh and most of their children later migrated to Australia. The Going family had been commercially significant in the area about Thurles. I seek information on the death of Caroline.

Searching for family history prior to above mentioned. They are the parents of John D. Downey. b.1810 d.1882 in Dale, Custer Co. Nebraska m. Ellen (Nelly) Sweeney 15 Sept. 1834 Parish of Gortnahoe Diocese of Cashel. John D. had the following siblings James b. 5 Aug. 1816, Laurence b. 24 Apr. 1819, James b. 29 May 1822 and Ellen b. 7 Sept. 1830 The townlands nated as the place of residence were Gurteen, Boulea or Lisnamrock (Coalbrook). We believe the Downey's (Downie's) arrived in Ulster from Scotland in 1763 and then settled in Co. Tipperary. Any help filling in the gap from 1763 to John D. Downey (1810) would be most helpful.

Looking for contact with the family of John Ryan and Joanna Fogarty of Thurles. Their son Michael married Margaret Maher and came to Queensland, Australia in 1854. Both parents were listed as having dies by that date. Margaret had two sisters already in Australia, possibly Sydney and possibly Mary and Catherine. Both her parents Patrick and Mary were still living in Tipperary in 1854. Thanks

I am researching the Darmody & Kearns names, which has taken me to County Tipperary, Ireland. My great grandmothers name was Mary Darmody born in or near Thurles in 1840/45, she had an older brother John born 1835/40 and an older sister Bridget, age unknown. All 3 emigrated to Geelong, Australia in the mid 1800's, Bridget first and then Mary & John together. Their parents were Owen Darmody and Ellen Kearns. Owen's occupation was given in the mid 1800's as Coachman. Would like to correspond with anyone researching these family names in County Tipperary.

Looking for information on ancestors of Thomas Fennessy and his wife Mary Anne Cleary (b 1831). Children were Mary, Hubert, Catherine (b 1853), John and Charlotte. I believe the family moved to Cork, then later Catherine married William Hopkins and lived in Liverpool.

Patrick Long b 1807c, father Thomas, arrived Sydney NSW per 'Abbotsford' 29Sep1839. Patrick was a blacksmith. He married Anne Lennon who had arrived per 'North Britain' on 14Dec1839 (with her parents and four siblings) on 20Sep1841 at Penrith NSW.
