I am tracing my maternal tree. We know that abraham knight was in epsom in 1781 (born) he was married to elizabeth otway and they had 8 children. a branch of the family comes from Slinfold in sussex and we know he was john married to kate they had about 12 kids. What i don't know yet is the connection between the branches of the family. John was a cab driver in the late 1800s at the railway station in upper high street epsom and one of his sons stanley horace died in the great war. The family lived at bracken path, epsom common (my side). I have an ancestor, Thomas Grover, who died in 1914/18 war and is commemorated on a plaque in the lychgate of Sompting Church.(He was the illegitimate son of Annie Grover who ran a Beer Shop where 'The Balltree Inn' is now) Also on the plaque is James Grover killed at Croisilles 21 May 1917. Boyles Cottages, Stone Cross - (Stone Cross (Eastbourne district) - Sussex)
Hi, I am trying to find out when the above cottages were built. I have found them on the 1841 Census, just listed as Stone Cross Cottages, it was between 1891 and 1901 that they were, I believe, purchased by Mr Boyles who was the Head Master of Hankham School. The cottages are just past Barn Cottages, the opposite side of the road from the Red Lion Pub. Any history of Stone Cross would also be of interest. Thanks

My Great Grandfather William STILLAWAY(1866-1939) was a labourer at the Cement Works from at least 1901 until an accident in about 1909. I am attempting to find a possible newspaper report about the accident and would like to hear from anyone who had ancestors employed at the cement works about pre 1910.

I am trying to find out who his father was as his birth certificate is blank. Also I know he had asister as I have a picture of her but do not know her name. Any help would be much appreciated.
