The chapters are: The River Adur, Ancient Ships and mariners, Shoreham Pirates and Privateers, The Flight of the King, The Shoreham Men-of-War and their commanders, The Shoreham Merchant Ships, Shoreham Shipwrecks and Disasters, The Oyster Fishery, Smuggling at Shoreham. There is also a list of Master Mariners of Shoreham and some of the ships commanded by them, should anyone want a look-up.

I am researching my gt grandmothers family who lived in New Shoreham Her parents were Charles and Sarah Steer they had 9 children. Charles was a shipwright, and Sarah was born in Dawlish in Devon. They lived in Commercial Terrace and Adur Terrace, both of which I cannot find on todays maps.
