red mail Salehurst
I am researching the Glyde family and have established that my great(x4)grandfather was born in the vilage in 1815. His parents were John and Charlotte. He lived until 1911 and died in Hastings. His name was Lawrence and that name and George were given to sons in subsequent generations. I have so far been unable to find the births of John or Charlotte. There were branches of the family in Hastings, Salehust and East Anglia. Lawrence and his sons were invloved in the gas, plumbing and building trades in the late 19th and early 20 C. (For any of those interested in Hastings politics the family are likely to have known the characters in the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists)
