bit of a long shot, trying to trace family history, father Antony or could be Roy was born in 1917 and lived in possibly Hove. he had a brother Peter who became a monk and I understand lived at a monastery in sussex. Have no name for his father, but led to believe that he was a worker in leather and cobbler, possibly having a shop in Hove I guess around 1910 onwards. his mother had the name Chummy. Not 100% sure on surname as father changed his surname to LYONS in about 1940

Looking for information or other living relatives of these families settled in Hove for hundreds of years. John Oliver Vallance built what is now the Hove Museum and Art Gallery in 1870s. Vallance family were lords of the manor of Hove and built the Vallance estate. They have a family vault in St Andrews (old) church. Father was George Brooker Vallance. Also related to the Catt family and Brooker families.

Hi. I am looking for some ancestors that may have come from Hove. Thomas and Elizabeth Ann Yeates were married April 19, 1887. She was a Haffenden before marriage. They had up to 8 children. 2 of the children were sent to North America after their mother died and their father basically abandoned them; he may have joined the Royal Navy and left England on a ship. Thomas Yeates died in 1919 and is buried in Billingly Hospital Cemetary. Elizabeth Ann (Haffenden) Yeates died in 1903. One of their children is my great-grandmother. When she married in Toronto, Ontario Canada, she married a Sanderson. Any information available on this family would be much appreciated.

She may be the V I Lockwood living in the same road 1950s to mid 1970s with a Georgina Lockwood who died 1978 aged 100. I have found a Vera Irene Lockwood who died in Worthing in 1991, though she was born 1922. Obviously not the lady I am looking for, though I have been unable to find the death of any other Vera Irene Lockwood in the area.

I am looking for information on Joseph Cronshaw Dean born Accrington, Lancs, 3.8.1900 - died 19.12.1974 at 102 Marine Parade,Brighton, East Sussex, age 74 from cancer of the larynx (death cert). His parents were Joseph Dean and Susan Dean (nee Cronshaw) from Accrington. They lived in Sultan Street, Accrington originally but by 1918 were living at what looks like 10 Aitken Street, Accrington. Joseph Junior was a motor Mechanic (retired) and lived at 102 Marine Parade, Brighton. He had married Martha Davies in 1921 in Lancaster. ?separated/divorced. He had a son, Joseph J Dean born c1922. I would be very interested to hear from anyone who knew of him, any descendants or any information about him. He worked at Hove Hospital at one time as an ?engineer. He had served in the RAF at Manby, Lincolnshire in WW2. His service no. was 247516. During WWI he was in the Royal Naval Air Service (same service no.) This is the last missing person from my Dean part of the family tree.

George Benjamin Breach was the Chief Superintendant of Police in Hove. With his wife, Carolyn Mary Tindall Schultze, and two sons, Christopher George Robert and Reginald Alfred, the family lived at 14 Osborne St. in Hove, according to the 1881 census. He was named for his father, George Benjamin Breach, born 1812 in Steyning, who was the first Head Office Police in Hove. This George Breach was married to Susannah Hilton. They resided at C 39 Blat Road in Hove. These Breach men are my grandfathers, and although I am able to trace most all the other Breach lines in Sussex (going back to John Breach and Mary Moor), I am really NEEDING HELP linking my branch. Can anyone tie us in to their Breach lines? Through my great-grandparents, we are in possession of an old family Bible, dated 1613, that also includes family history of the Sturton and Ainsworth families (although we are unable to link here yet, either). Any help would be so much appreciated.
