Our family line of Burchett dates back to Samuel Burchett born about 1734 in Herstmonceaux, married Martha Jeffery 1758 in Wartling, Sussex. Their decendants lived in Herstmonceaux and Wartling, and possible still do today. My great great grandfather was Herbert Burchett born 9 Feb 1836 in Herstmonceaux and migrated to Hobart, Australia. Married Jane Walker in Hobart 29 Dec 1859 and died in Hobart on 20 Aug 1870. Any information to help us fill in the gaps would be greatly appreciated.

Any information sorte on the PAGE family of Herstmonceux in the 1800's.Head of the household is MOSES PAGE born circa 1822 in the village,his wife was ELIZABETH(unable to establish her maiden name at the moment)born circa 1828 also in Herstmonceux.They had at least 5 children,Ellen c1848,Harriett c1851,Ruth A c1852,Esther c1857,Trayton c1858.Ellen married William Hatt of Heckfield(my husbands greatgrandparents)and it's believed that Trayton emigrated,possibly to Canada.Can anyone give me any information on this family and are there other Page's associated with this family and village.

Seeking information about the BAKER family in Herstmonceux (Gardner Street), mid 19th century to early 20th century, particularly Levi of Praise the Lord Cottage and his descendants. Levi and his second wife, Harriett (FULBROOK), died in December 1882 and March 1883 respectively, leaving some very young children. I would be very interested to learn about their upbringing and/or any small piece of information which would help to build the wider picture of my family.
