I am looking for any information on Herbert John GREEN ( Known as JACK). Born 18 Nov 1919 in Westonia, Western Austalia, Married to JEAN HODGES of Ditchling,Sussex, at St Margarets Church Ditchling, Sept 1941, when he was in the R.A.M.C. Jack left his family about 1944. He and Jean were divorced mid 50s. I was given a death cert showing he died 2005 in the Chichester area where he resided. Jean, my mother, died aged 95 in 2014, sadly in dementia care, and was no longer able to help me with family history and memories. Thanks to anyone who can help, however little or vague. I would especially like to know how and why Jack came to be in the U.K. who his parents were, and any info resulting from his second marriage. Thank you.

I am looking for information on John Downer. He was born in Thakeham about 1774. In the will of his brother Daniel, who died in 1830, John was listed as 'a gentleman of Chichester'. I have been unable to find anything about John. Did he marry? When did he die? As he was the eldest son it is presumed he inherited any money left by his parents John and Lucy Downer. They died in 1814 and 1815 respectively. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm having difficulty finding information about George Legg, b. abt. 1805, and his wife, Susan Shilson. They were Wesleyan-Methodist, and so are not often in the BMD index. Their children include Richard Legg and George Legg who married Eliza Beale. Both Georges were mariners and lived at one time in Weymouth. He was born out of wedlock but has his father down as one Frank Stares on birth cert. but this is most likely to be his grandfathers name. he was born in Chichester Workhouse. When my relative Jane BAUDRY, nee FORD married Henry TAYLOR at St.Martin's Church, Chichester in 1875 (she was his third wife), they were both living at ST.MARTIN'S COURT, CHICHESTER. Since Jane was born in Wickham, Hants. and had lived in France, I'm interested to know how she ended up in Chichester. She doesn't appear on the 1871 census there but I wonder whether she was in service at St.Martin's Court at the time of her marriage. Can anyone supply details about St.Martin's Court? Is/was it a collection of houses near the church or one specific house at which Jane and possibly Henry might have been employees?

looking for anyone with any information on the Habin family of Rumboldswyke, Chichester; any relations of Thomas Habin (b. abt 1796) who married Elizabeth Field (b abt 1772) on the 18th august 1793; this is as far as i have managed to go back. Edward Habin (b1807), their son, was a corn merchant and saddler who lived at the Hornet, and HIS son, John Habin (b 1840) was later the farmer of Church and Manor Farms in Chidham. I have been unable to trace his daughter Nancy (annie) after 1904, when her married name was Annie Cracknell, so any information on this too would be helpful. she was a nurse. Also, if anyone lives in Chichester and could keep a lookout for gravestones belonging to the Habin family, that would also be really helpful. May have been buried in St Pancras.
