red mail Smale
I have a conundrum with two missing people. In the 1881 census an entry for an Emile H Smale is shown born Sutton Surrey abt 1878 the son of Thomas & Emma. In the 1891 census there is an entry for a Charles E H Smale born Sutton also abt 1878. I have not been able to locate a birth for either Emile H or Charles E H. Charles E H should have been on the 1881 census if born around 1878. It is possible that they are the same person but changed name usage. However I have not been able to locate a death, marriage or other census entry for either of them. There is a death entry for a Charles E Smale at Hellingly (not far from Battle) in 1914 but the certificate indicates it is not the same person. Any ideas?
