red mail Lucas - Howard
I am looking for the parents of Thomas Lucas who joined the Marines as a Private for the First Fleet. He enlisted as Thomas Lucas, born 1760. Working back from the age at his death he would have been born in 1758 or 1759, and he may have been born Silas Lucas and assumed the name Thomas on enlisting. He travelled in the First Fleet to Australia on the ship 'Scarborough'. A Nathaniel Lucas was also onboard this ship, and it is documented they called each other 'couz' (Cousin). Not sure if this is true biologically. Thomas met Ann Howard and had a son, then travel on the ship 'Sirius' to Nofolk Island, New South Wales, Australia where he became a Royal Admiral. He then married Ann Howard a convict from Middlesex, London, England (transported for stealing on the 'Lady Juliana', arriving on the 3rd June 1790 at Sydney Cove, New South Wales, Australia) on the 17th of August 1801 in the Church of England, Norfolk Island, New South Wales, Australia. I am also looking for her parents. They had four boys, Thomas (DOB 29.12.1791 Sydney Cove, New South Wales, Australia), Richard (DOB 20.12.1795 Nofolk Island, New South Wales, Australia), John (DOB 25.6.1797 Nofolk Island, New South Wales, Australia) and Nathaniel (DOB 19.10.1799 Nofolk Island, New South Wales, Australia). They had land on Nofolk Island, New South Wales, Australia, where Thomas was a Glaizer, Painter and Farmer. They left on the 'City Of Edinborough' arriving at the Derwent River, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia on the 2nd October 1808. They received the largest land grant at Kingston (Brown's River), Hobart, Tasmania, Australia) in Tasmania at the time. Thomas died on the 29th of August 1815 in Kingston, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Ann Lucas (nee Howard) died on the 10th of June 1832 in Kingston, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. They are both buried in Saint David Park Cemetery, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. If you have any information I would love to hear from you. Cheers ;)
