red mail Hole/Sharland
Looking for any info or descendants of John Hole b c1842 Witheridge Devon and his wife, Lydia A Sharland born 1842 Puddington Devon. The 1881 census shows them residing in Great Brookham but previously lived in Hertfordshire and by 1891 shown as living Chilworth, Shalford, Surrey. I am putting together a family tree/history as a descendant of Lydia's siste, Grace. John and Lydia Hole had at least 13 children: Frederick W, Waller J, Sarah J, Frank, James, Gilbert,Sydney, Alice, Mary, Arthur, Fanny, Harry and Ernest
red mail Quarry Street PB, Shalford

red mail CHITTY
My paternal grandmother was a Chitty, born in Shalford. Her name was Emily Blanche CHITTY b. 1894, daughter of Jesse CHITTY and Ann (nee MUNFORD). They lived at Lochnel Farm near Shalford and also for a time at Tangley Cottage in Wonersh, Surrey, before immigrating to New Zealand. Jesse CHITTY (was born in 1865 in Bangelor, East Indies). He was the son of Thomas & Emily CHITTY so I presume that Thomas served in India for a time. Thomas was born in 1838 at Beddington, Surrey, and is listed as a Coachman in the 1881 British Census. His father was also named as Thomas, b. 1803, at Godalming, Surrey. He was present in the household at the time of the 1881 Census. He was listed as a Leather Dresser, was recorded as Married but as there was only one female in the household at Census time, I presume he was a widower. Any assistance in furthering my family history would be greatly appreciated.
