red mail Humphries
Looking for any info on John Humphries & wife Ann, children Richard, George, William & Sarah. Hammersmith, Putney, Fulham or Wandsworth circa 1800-1900.
red mail Desperately Seeking Richard Humphries!!!
I am researching my Humphries ancestors who lived in Putney (came across the river from Hammersmith in the mid 1800s) in particular my 3xg/grandfather Richard Humphries who has proven to be my biggest "hurdle". I know this much about him:- He was baptised in Hammersmith in July 1829, son of John Humphries and Ann ROGERS; he married Mary Ann SMITH in December 1849; they lived in Putney and had one daughter (who died in infancy) and three sons William (my 2xg/grandfather), Joseph and Walter. Then Mary Ann disappears completely from the 1871 census and is "replaced" by a new wife Sarah; Richard and Sarah have three children together (one daughter dies in infancy). The 1881 census is where my troubles begin. Richard is not listed ANYWHERE and Sarah has married somebody else entirely and is living in Battersea! I have not found hide nor hair of Richard from around 1871 - 1875, after his daughter Charlotte was born. Where did he go?? What happened to him?? I am desperate for any help or advice. I have checked GRO death records, burial records for Putney, 1881 census of all England counties - even American census records! Please help me, I thank you!

Can anyone tell me if there is any way of searching for army recruits in the 1860s-1870s? Are you a relative of Thomas who can take my search a step further back in time?
