red mail Thick Family
My great grandmother's brother was Eli James Thick (in some records referred to as James Thick) married to Ellen Redman in Fisherton-Anger, Wiltshire in 1859. I have found them on the 1871,1881,1891 census' living in Lambeth with 3 children, James, Fanny Gertrude (or Gertrude) and George. On the 1901 census he is in the Newington Workhouse listed as a widower. He was a carpenter or joiner. Eli James was born in 1843 in Stourton Caundle in Dorset and Ellen was born in Somerset in Wiltshire. There marriage states he was 23 and she was 27 at the time, which made her year of birth about 1832. Information I have found states she died in 1903 and he died in 1892 but given the fact that he was on the 1901 census leads me to believe the dates were switched. I wonder if there are any descendants of these two individuals who would be interested in exchanging family information or anyone with additional information regarding this couple and their family. Andrea

On 25th November 1876 my Great Grandfather Arnold Higginbottom married Julia Vinden at St Marys Church, Lambeth. Three years earlier in 1873 ArnoldÕs younger sister Mary Higginbottom had married Julia's elder brother John Hatton Vinden, again the marriage taking place in Lambeth. The marriage certificate identifies John's father as William Vinden, occupation brick maker. John's occupation is shown as plasterer. John and Jane produced three children that I identified fairly early in my research; Jane born 4th November 1849, John Hatton born 4th April 1851and Julia born around 1857 to 1859. I have never been able to trace Julia's birth and I have never found John and Jane in any census. John Hatton Vinden was born two days after the 1851 census was taken and the address given on the birth certificate is 31 Berkeley Street, Lambeth. But the entry in the census for that date shows the house occupied by John Cooper, aged 29, a plasterer born in Shepperton, Middlesex; his wife Jane age 28 and born Fulham, Middlesex; and daughter Jane.
