Miss Brotherton?
Miss Brotherton or Bretherton lived in Surrey in a cottage on Effingham Common with cats in the adjacent cottage. This unfortunate lady suffered a large growth on her forehead which she had suffered for some time during the war years,.... toward the end of the war it would appear that she had had an operation to remove the growth. 1945 ?.... She was well known round about East Horsley and Effingham and was thought to have been an actress in her younger days. Does any one know of this lady and what became of her! The cottages, if they are still there, will have been gentrified by now........ Thank you, Bill

1881 Census shows a Rev.Henry Robinson a widower, at this address. Is Effingham Lodge still extant ? Does anyone know anything of this retired clergyman or his family. He may have been married to a Mrs Jane White widow of Capt Samuel White of Bristol. Any help would be tremendous.
red mail Effingham Cricket Club
I am looking into the history of the Cricket Club whose records sadly appear poor. I believe the Club was founded around 1853 and played on the common from at least 1955 although where before that is vague. Any help however small would be appreciated.
red mail Photographs
Does anyone have any old photographs of Effingham? Particularly of effingam village and common road. My house used to be an old zoo, and I would really love to see what it once looked like, if that was possible!
red mail Effingham Manor and Common
I am trying to find some information about owners of the Manor, and owners of property in the area. Surnames are listed below, but I am also looking for info on titled people such as Lady A.L. Frederick, Azalea Caroline Keyes, Count Lewenhaupt Falkenstein. Especially want to know who was Robert Reitmayer Calburn, who bought the manor and much land around in the 1920s.
I have various old photographs of Effingham village. I would love them to go to good home. They belonged to my mother-in-law, Ellen Lamb (nee Ottoway)
